This Year Daddy Began a Comeback
By Glenn Sacks
"After years of setbacks, the fatherhood movement made substantial progress from Father's Day 2004 to Father's Day 2005. The movement's goal is to reform family law to allow divorced dads to play a meaningful role in the lives of the children who love them and need them.”

Do Women Really Want a Male Birth Control Pill?
By Glenn Sacks
“Women have long lamented the unequal burden they shoulder in the area of contraception. Today researchers are reportedly close to perfecting a male contraceptive that is free of side effects, easy to take, and reversible. But do women really want a male birth control pill? Power is the reward which comes with responsibility…while women legitimately complain that biology has condemned them to bear the burden of contraception, this burden also gives women control over one of the most important parts of any human being’s life--reproduction..” -- Newsday (4/11/05)
California’s Military Reservists Need SB 1082 By Jeffery M. Leving and Glenn Sacks
“The problem cries out for legislative intervention but to date only Missouri has adequately addressed the problem by passing a law in the days leading up to the first Gulf War. For those reservists who have already been mobilized, only a federal reform of the Bradley amendment—already widely seen as bad law within family law circles--can truly solve the problem.
“However, SB 1082, sponsored by Senators Denise Moreno Ducheny (D-San Diego) and Bill Morrow (R-Oceanside), will help. The bill requires family courts to take special measures to accommodate activated reservists who need downward modifications. Moreover, in cases where the child support is owed to the state for reimbursement of welfare or foster care costs, the bill provides a procedure which allows and encourages the state to offer a compromise which reflects the change in income during the period of active military service. This is important because the state is the obligee in a large percentage of California child support cases.”

"Mark Huddleston is the biological father of a 16-month-old child he says he wants to raise. But a judge has ruled the child should remain with its adoptive parents, who have had custody since the infant was three days old. Huddleston claims he didn't know the baby existed until two months after its birth...the state said the private adoption agency hadn't properly notified Huddleston and that he should have an opportunity to raise the child.

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which was first passed in 1994, expires on September 30, and legislation was recently introduced to renew it. While on the surface VAWA sounds good--after all, everyone opposes violence against women--there are many serious problems with it.
VAWA-funded shelters and domestic violence organizations ignore and often refuse to provide services to male victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence organizations funded by VAWA refuse to acknowledge the mountains of research which show that men compromise a significant percentage of domestic violence victims.

Why do you write about men's issues? Aren't men the privileged gender?
Some men are privileged and some women are privileged. Most are not. When we say "privileged" we are only looking up, at the leaders of our society, who are mostly male. If we look down, at the bottom of our society, we'll see that most of the people down there are male...

Jeff Leving and Glenn's New Column "Persecuting Low Income Parents"
“In a highly-publicized move, Jefferson County, Kentucky Attorney Irv Maze recently published the names and addresses of 1,000 alleged “deadbeat parents” in the Louisville Courier-Journal. The move has drawn praise nationally, and Maze says the list is helping his office locate debtors. However, most of the parents on Maze’s humiliating list are not those who won’t pay, but instead those who can’t pay. “

VAWA Renewal Provides Opportunity to Stop Destruction of Innocent Cops' Careers
By Glenn Sacks
“Shot in the line of duty. Twice awarded the Medal of Honor. Named Essex County, New Jersey Police Officer of the Year. A highly decorated officer with an impeccable record. For 22 years police officer Eric Washington battled criminals on the streets of East Orange, New Jersey. On January 21, 2001 Washington was ambushed and brought down--not by an ex-convict bent on revenge or a shadowy gunman, but instead by a false accusation of domestic violence.”
